FEATURE: Financial Reports from State Reps Jones, Spencer and Atwood,and State Senator Ligon filed on time

July 23, 2017 – It’s a non-election year in Georgia for area State Representatives and State Senators.  That means that their Campaign Finance reports are due only twice a year, at six-month intervals.  For January through June 2017, the reports had to be filed by July 10.  Here’s a summary of what area officials filed in campaign fundraising and spending:

State Senator Bill Ligon:   District 3 Senator Ligon reported raising no money January through June, with expenditues of $ 6,019 over the past six months, ending with $47,595 in cash in his campaign account as of June 30,2017. 

Sen. Ligon wrote checks to: UGA College Republicans, Faith & Freedom Coalition, Concerned Women of America, Kay Kirkpatrick for Senate, Charity Martin, Sherena Arrington, and Commotion Agency.

Senate District 3 covers Glynn, Camden, McIntosh, Brantley and a portion of Charlton counties.

State Representative Jeffrey B. “Jeff” Jones:  House District 167 Rep. Jeff Jones reported raising no funds from January through June 2017, and spending $4,171, leaving a balance of $ 5,125.89 in his campaign account.  He also has an outstanding debt of $ $11,857.79, as of June 30.  Payments on the debt of $1,700 were made during the period.  

Checks were written to Capitol One, Express Lubes of SE GA, Inc, GA Republican Party Convention. $121.28,, Handel for Congress, Sewell Consultancy, and Southeast Capital Consulting LLC.

House District 167 covers a portion of Glynn county, and Long and McIntosh counties.

State Representative Alex Atwood:  House District 179 Rep. Alex Atwood reported spending $6,535 during the January through June period, ending with $6,274.83 in cash on hand at June 30, 2017.  He did not accept any campaign contributions during the period.

Rep. Atwood wrote checks to: The Coastal Symphony of Georgia, Inc., Committee To Elect Ron Adams, Karen Handel for Congress, Inc., Red Terror Touchdown Club, and a $3,000 check to the Kemp for Governor campaign.

House District 179 covers the City of Brunswick, St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. 

State Representative Jason Spencer:  District 180 State Rep. Jason Spencer also raised no money during the six-month period.  He spent $1,055.00, and has $62.60 cash in hand as of June 30, 2017.

District 180 includes the citizens of Camden, Charlton, and Ware counties.
