Brunswick Business Journal Staff Report
December 5, 2018 - At TEDWomen 2018, Former House Democratic Leader and Founder and Chair of Fair Fight Stacey Abrams spoke about ambition, charting the future, and why, even in the face of setbacks such as losing the race for Georgia’s Governor, she will always find a way to move forward. In the talk, Abrams outlined the questions she always asks herself when at a crossroads: “What do I want? Why do I want it? And how do I get it?”
“I know what I want, and that is justice, because poverty is immoral and a stain on our nation,” Abrams said in her surprise appearance at last Friday’s TEDWomen in Palm Springs, Ca.
She outlined in her talk how 1.2 million African American voted in Georgia — more voters than the entire amount who voted on the Democratic side of the ticket in 2014. And the number of Asian and Hispanic Americans tripled.
“I am moving forward knowing what is in my past. I know the obstacles they have for me. I’m fairly certain they’re energizing and creating new obstacles now,” Abrams said. “They’ve got four years to figure it out. Maybe two.”
In only fives days since her talk, there have been more than 500,000 views. To see her TedWomen talk, go to
