May 11 - Darren Penn Elected 60th President of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association

May 11, 2015 - At the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association’s Annual Convention on April 30th, Attorney Darren W. Penn of Atlanta and Savannah was elected to serve as the 60th President of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association (GTLA).

Penn, who previously served as GTLA President-elect and Legislative Committee Co-Chairman, was unanimously elected by the members of GTLA and will serve a one-year term.

 “Being elected by my peers to lead the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association is one of the pinnacle moments of my legal career, thus far,” said President Darren Penn. “As I take the helm of our Association, I am fortunate to be leading a vibrant, thriving organization, which has reached this point thanks in no small part to the tireless efforts of my predecessor, Linley Jones. This year, I am confident that we will continue to work harder than ever before in our efforts to protect and uphold Georgia’s Civil Justice System, and I am looking forward to working alongside the finest group of attorneys anywhere in the country.”

Darren Penn is a Founding Partner of the law firm Harris Penn Lowry LLP in Atlanta, where his practice is focused on products liability, trucking and auto collisions, wrongful death, medical malpractice, aviation, business torts, entertainment law and intellectual property cases. Previously, he has served as the President-elect and Legislative Committee Co-Chairman of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, Chairman of the State Bar of Georgia’s General Practice & Trial Law Section and Chairman of the Civil Justice PAC.

The firm also have offices in Savannah.

Darren earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Georgia, where he served as Executive Articles Editor of the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law and participated in the Moot Court. Darren lives in Atlanta with his three children and two dogs.

“I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to serve as GTLA president and I am pleased with all that we accomplished over this last year, specifically our strides in membership, diversity and the advancement of civil justice legislation,” remarked Immediate Past President Linley Jones. “Our new president, Darren Penn, has the wisdom and experience to be an excellent president, and I am confident that he will be a great leader for GTLA.”

Founded in 1956, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association (GTLA) is dedicated to strengthening and upholding Georgia’s Civil Justice System and protecting Georgia citizens’ Constitutional Right to Trial by Jury.
