November 21, 2018 - Onduo is offering virtual diabetes care for people living with type 2 diabetes, at no cost, to the first 1,000 people who sign up and qualify in Georgia, as part of a special promotion recognizing National Diabetes Awareness month. The registration period for this special promotion is open through the holidays and ends December 31, 2018. According to the American Diabetes Association, one in ten Georgians have diabetes and 90-95% have type 2. Georgians can register and learn how to qualify at www.onduo.com/GA or call 1-833-HiOnduo (446-6386).

“We have so many great partners and supportive members in Georgia, so we thought this would be a great way to give back to the community. The state has one of the highest rates of diabetes in the country, and we want to try to help,” said Josh Riff, M.D., CEO of Onduo. “We also know the holidays can be one of the most challenging times of year for people with diabetes. We’re ready to support Georgians by covering the program’s costs.”

Onduo offers a 12-month behavior-change program and access to its virtual clinic. Members receive tools, such as an at-home A1c kit, test strips and a blood glucose monitoring device that reads glucose levels frequently and tracks the data in the Onduo app. Some members get access to the newest technology in diabetes, a continuous glucose monitor (CGM). The app gives members a picture of what their sugar levels do throughout the day as it relates to diet, activities and medication. Onduo’s care team – made up of diabetes professionals such as dieticians, diabetes educators and doctors – can analyze the data and offer guidance and support to the member regarding diet, activity, lifestyle habits and medication management.

Access to Onduo is already being offered, at no extra cost, by select health plans to its members. Onduo is a joint venture created by Verily, a subsidiary of Alphabet focused on life sciences and healthcare, and Sanofi.
