Oct. 30 – Glynn County Commissioners to hear request to Amend Sea Island Golf Club’s development district

October 30, 2017 – The Glynn County Commissioners, at their regularly scheduled meeting this coming Thursday at 6:00 p.m., will hear a request by the Sea Island Golf Club to amend the Sea Island Golf Club Planned Development District by adding 2.31 acres to the Planned Development District, and rezone the property from FA.

The property is a portion of the Golf Club’s property located at 100 Retreat Avenue, St. Simons Island, and on the tax rolls as Parcel ID: 04-04808. Yates Anderson is listed as the applicant and owner of Sea Island Acquisition LLC. 

The Commissioners will also hear request # ZM3624(b) by the Sea Island Golf Club to amend the Sea Island Golf Club Planned Development District by removing 2.86 acres from the Planned Development District and rezoning the property to FA, as part of the same change to the previously approved master plan. 

In other business, the Glynn Haven Baptist Church is seeking a Special Use Permit to allow for the construction of a church on property located at 103 Palmetto Street, St. Simons Island, that is .404 acres and is zoned R-6 One Family Residential.  The parcel is located on the tax rolls as Parcel ID: 04-05070. Larry Bryson is listed as agent for Glynn Haven Baptist Church Inc, and owner.

And, Commissioners will be asked to approve a Revocable License Agreement between Glynn County and the Georgia Historical Society for the placement of a German Village historical marker in the right‐ of‐way on the west side of Lawrence Road at its intersection with Village Drive on St. Simons Island. Funding for the marker will be provided by the Georgia Historical Society.

The Recreation Department is also seeking a permit for the St. Simons Island Food and Spirit Festival to cook onsite and to use glass tableware at their event, Taste of the Golden Isles, on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at the St. Simons Casino and Neptune Park.

Also on the agenda is consideration of authorizing the naming of the Public Works Administration Building to the Edward C. Whittle Building in honor of his lifelong service to Glynn County.

An executive session is also posted.

All meetings of the Commission are open to the public.
